Job Description: Job Duties The Data Manager/Analyst will engage in programming, data management and analysis needs for studies of epidemiology and medical data including electronic health records data captured in EPIC and administrative data collected on use of the patient portal. In addition to work on this project, there may be other projects based on research under the direction of Dr. Joann Elmore. Under general direction of the MSO and Principal Investigator the Data Manager/Analyst will work collaboratively with members of the research team and key stakeholders on research studies involving human subjects, including working closely with investigators, web developers, and statisticians. This position will provide data management support in working with UCLA IT to identify and extract EHR from EPIC and successfully merge it with data from other sources. While some work will involve EPIC data, not all projects rely on HER data. The analyst will provide statistical and computer programming support, data management and data documentation for the successful completion of research activities on multiple projects, including managing and coordinating all aspects of data merging, cleaning and analyzing. In addition, the Data Manager/Analyst will create proposals, tables, figures and written summaries of study results, including drafting the methods section for papers. This individual will also attend conference calls with project staff at multiple sites throughout the country. Job Qualifications Experience with Epic Clarity strongly desired. Knowledge of data captured using Epic and methods to extract into analytic files. 5+ years of experience in a healthcare related organization or as a medical researcher. Demonstrated expertise in the following areas: programming (SQL), databases (MS SQL, Clarity). Hospital Healthcare Applications (Epic) required. Knowledge of data warehouse concepts, data structures and reporting. Strong analytical, problem-solving and metadata skills. High functioning team skills, including active listening and rapport building. Effective written & verbal communication. Ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels to understand requirements. Ability to manage multiple and competing tasks while maintain timelines. Ability to work effectively as a team player with people of all backgrounds and at all levels Ability to establish and achieve goals. Ability to establish and maintain a spirit of cooperation and respect, flourish in an unstructured environment, and always engage in professional and ethical conduct. Ability to remain calm in difficult and stressful situations. Ability to manage ambiguity. Masters level or higher degree in a health-related or programming/statistics related field. Minimum of three years previous experience in statistical computing/ programming for large collaborative health-related research projects. Extensive knowledge and work experience in all aspects of programming needs on a multi-site study, in addition to experience working on research projects involving data collection, tracking, and data merging activities. Proficiency in MS Word, SAS and/or STATA. Experience also in Ra bonus. Experience in graphics. Sound knowledge of applied statistics. Excellent problem-solving, communication skills and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrates the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, and independently manage workflow. Ability to communicate quantitative findings to research team members. Ability to write data analyses and results sections for publication in peer-reviewed, scientific journals. Ability to collaborate and work efficiently on multiple projects with limited supervision. Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks simultaneously with a perceptive/heightened focus for detail and precision. Work closely with team members to assess information needs and develop adhoc and standard reports to meet those needs. PC based software (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) required. Knowledge of at least one of the following, Programming (, C#, ASP, HTML, JavaScript).
